Education Programs

The Kern River Preserve welcomes educational field visits from school and adult groups.
Kern River Environmental Magnet School hosted children from a local elementary school to a fun and educational day at Fay Creek on the Kern River Preserve. Thank you Mrs. Dwyer, KREM kids, parents, bus driver and volunteers so much for introducing children to nature on a lovely flower filled day.

Audubon Kern River Preserve has a docent/volunteer corps that, by appointment, hosts several student groups and classes from pre-school through university level each year as well as numerous adult groups. Groups are encouraged to visit the preserve to study, conduct appropriate research, assist on restoration projects, and provide general service work.

We have expertise in the following areas: amphibians & reptiles, avian census techniques, binocular usage, birds, birding, ecological principals (beginning/youth to advanced/adult), hummingbirds, hydrology, native grass restoration, riparian forest restoration, storytelling, Turkey Vultures, and more.
